Our Team
Nelson Mario Pachao Morbitzer (Founding Partner) is a Nuclear Engineer with more than twenty five years of experience solving different industrial problems in several areas. In Particular, he has focused on process optimization, new product development, and design of special devices. He worked at Tenaris´s R&D Group for a long time, developing products for Oil & Gas and Automotive industries. He worked many years as a freelance consulting engineer for companies like Monsanto Argentina, Siderar, Siderca, Taranto, Bunge, Aesa, Cal Austral (Chile) and Argentinian Department of Energy. In that period, he had to deal with problems in different fields like process optimization, forensic mechanical engineering, metallurgy and tribology. After that, he worked for Nucleoelectrica Argentina (NASA) in Commissioning of Atucha II Nuclear Power Plant, specially in the first critical approximation. Next he worked as a freelance researcher developing a process for isotopic separation at the Argentinian National Nuclear Energy Agency (CNEA). At the moment, he has three invention patents in the USPTO and one more as patent-pending status. Recently, he collaborated with Fermilab in a mechanical and thermal design of a cryostat prototype as part of the Oscura Project for dark matter detection. He also spent more than ten years as associate professor of material science in the National Technology University at Campana (Buenos Aires), and eight years as assistant professor of physics for the National University of Rio Negro, at Bariloche (Rio Negro).
Alex Horenstein (Founding Partner) is a Ph.D. in Economics with more than 13 years of academic experience. He is originally from Mendoza, Argentina. Alex has published his research in some of the most prestigious academic journals in Economics and Finance, like for example Econometrica, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of the European Economic Association, and Management Science. He has been invited to present his research at more than 70 top conferences, seminars, and other universities and institutions around the world, for example the Federal Reserve of New York (USA), Erasmus University (Netherlands), Tsinghua University (China), Keio University (Japan), Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (Mexico), and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina). He is also a frequent media contributor (e.g., CNN en Español, Bloomberg, Financial Times).
Gustavo Ortiz Uriburu (Founding Partner) is a Nuclear Engineer with broad experience in software design and development; specialized in Instrumentation Control and Communication. Due to his solid academic background focused on investigation and problem solving he has worked for leading industries in vast areas like nuclear, aerospace, petroleum, mining , logistic, energy utilities, and others. As an automation expert he was responsible for the team that designed and developed the control unit of two argentine radars, he was also involved in the design and development of the telemetry system that controls 23 meteorological radars in Argentina. He has acquired extensive background in designing and assessing viability of new software and hardware for the aerospace industry, and has proven expertise in design of mission critical operating systems. Gustavo has been a professor in the areas of control, network, communication, and reliability for over ten years . He is a competent leader for cross-sectoral projects. He has a proactive mindset and is constantly confronted with new difficulties.
Ariel Pola (Contributor) is a highly experienced Ph.D. in Science of Engineering, specializing in ASIC/FPGA applications, with over 15 years of professional expertise. His skill set encompasses two primary areas. Firstly, he excels in microelectronics, where he designs and implements algorithms and architectures for digital signal and image processing. Secondly, he leverages his proficiency in artificial intelligence and machine learning to generate information from diverse data sources, including structured data, video, images, and web-scraped data. Ariel's background includes notable achievements in the field of optical communication. He has designed and implemented coherent optical communication transceivers for OTN networks, demonstrating proficiency in EDC, carrier and timing recovery, and other essential algorithms. Moreover, he has successfully applied these skills in the satellite industry, where he engineered a full-duplex transceiver for DTN on small satellites. In addition, Ariel has provided design services on 3D video and image processing algorithm projects using GPU FPGA pipelines integrated with deep learning NNs. Currently, Ariel leads design and verification projects of IP cores for radar and satellite applications for prestigious companies such as INVAP SE. In addition, he is in charge of the advanced digital design graduate course and introductory courses on digital design and Verilog.
Juan Pablo Quintero Roggero (Contributor) is
an Industrial Designer graduated from the College of Architecture, Urbanism,
and Design in Córdoba, Argentina. He
has a specialization in User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design,
and is also a technician in automation and control systems. Currently, he works
as a freelancer focusing on design, 3D modeling, and presentation of various
projects and devices. He has a comprehensive knowledge of SolidWorks and
computer-aided technical drawing programs (Autocad), as well as product
rendering tools (Keyshot) and graphic editing tools such as Illustrator,
Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects. He has 5 years of experience in
development and manufacturing using 3D printing (Resin and Additive) for various
projects and prototypes in multiple areas. Recently, he collaborated with IPSUM
in the modeling and presentation of a cryostat prototype for Fermilab as part
of the Oscura project for dark matter detection. In parallel, he collaborates
in the modeling and refinement of a prototype for assistance and rehabilitation
for people with motor disabilities, and in the design, modeling, and
manufacturing of a portable load lifting system for ergonomic assistance in
repetitive force tasks.
